Our take

The SMF03 is the mixer you buy partly because it looks fantastic. Under the 50s styling is a capable 800W planetary that whips and mixes well; it isn't the strongest for heavy dough and it's priced for the design, but if you want a stand mixer that's also a kitchen centrepiece, this is it.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • + Beautiful retro design
  • + Solid die-cast build
  • + Good whipping and cake mixing
  • + 10 speeds plus splash guard

Cons

  • Not the strongest for heavy bread dough
  • You pay a premium for the looks
  • Smaller attachment range than Kenwood/KitchenAid
